Behavioral Health Coordinator, Practitioner

My Story

First, I am already so proud of you for making the choice to enter the counseling journey. Taking the first step is often scary and challenging! I hope to hold a safe space for you, while you courageously step into healing and self-exploration. YOU ARE STRONGER THAN YOU KNOW…AND…YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

My name is Reyna, and I attended the University of New Mexico and obtained my Master’s in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling. I am a nationally certified counselor and hold a LMHC license in New Mexico. I am here to meet you where you are at and hold space for the complexity of all your emotions and experiences. I come from the framework that…LIFE IS HARD! We ALL need support as social and interconnected beings. Society, our upbringings, our individual and collective experiences all influence the coping tools, behaviors, beliefs, and thoughts that we hold on to. These all work for a period of time in our lives, and at some point, no longer work for us. Through therapy, we can unlearn these beliefs and unhealthy thinking patterns and learn new ways of healing and coping with life’s stressors.

Not every type of therapy works for all people and all concerns. I come from an existential humanistic/person-centered approach. Each client is unique and whole as they are, thus I am intentional about catering therapy sessions using various modalities and techniques. Some of these include CBT, DBT, art, expressive arts, journaling, gestalt, mindfulness, holistic approaches, talk therapy, solution-focused therapy, and somatic experiencing and integrating. You are the expert on your own life! I am here to validate and support you along the way, while finding new ways to address challenges. Your interests, values, and quirks will be part of our therapy process together!

I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, and families. Areas of focus and passion for me include LGBTQI+ community, anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, racial trauma, ancestral/generational processing, grief/loss, life adjustments, interpersonal concerns, chronic illness, spirituality, and end of life transitioning.

Reyna joined the Odyssey Team in 2022 and shares the same vision of the importance in working with the WHOLE person, mind-body-spirit.
