In-Spirit (Inspiration)

I ran across a powerful meme today that said "Pay attention to whatever inspires you, because it is Spirit trying to communicate with you... In-Spirit". This meme itself inspired me to write this today. So many people pull the negative from social media. I chose to pull the positive. There are so many power-ful good, positive, amazing mood enhancing, AND yes Inspirational messages of love, compassion, kindness, EMPOWERMENT, etc. You just have to look through a lens that will allow you to see these things. What is your "lens" like? Do you see and experience all the amazingness around us to be grateful for or do you soak in the negativity? I hope this post inspires you to see and receive all the positivity around you today and every day. Be good to yourself and each other.

Walking Through Life With Grace

What does it mean to walk through life with grace? It means being gentle with yourself and others. Having unrealistic expectations of ourselves or others only helps us to be resentful and disappointed later. Walking through life with Grace means we realize we all are doing the best that we can at any given time regardless of the outcome. Walking through life with Grace means we will try to be mindful of our internal and external dialogue. Remember negative talk whether internal or external is disabling. You don't have control over what others say to you but you don't have to stay listening either. Walking through life with Grace includes creating internal dialogue so that it's positive, hopeful, and uplifting. Walking through life with Grace means we'll think before we speak so as not to carelessly hurt other people's feelings. Our mind and how we think is truly the most powerful place we come from because we can shape, mold, and change our thoughts. Today pay attention to your inside voice and let it be one of self-respect and self-confidence! Have forgiveness for yourself and others. Be mindful of the expectations you have of yourself and others, making sure those expectations are healthy and realistic. Allow yourself to make mistakes realizing the next moment, hour, day can be a do-over even if others don't allow you a do-over. You have no control over how others will respond to you. Walk through life with Grace giving yourself permission to maybe not get it "right" the first time. Have a blessed day. Be good to yourself and each other

Freeing Yourself From Being An Emotional Hostage Through Forgiveness

People tend to see forgiveness as something they're doing for other people when really it in fact is what will set YOU free. They see it as the "F" word with a negative connotation vs seeing it as true Freedom from what's holding you emotionally hostage. To counter your resistance to forgiveness, make a list of those people and things you need to release. Therein you will find who and what you need to forgive including yourself. Now I'm not saying it's going to be an easy process and its definitely not a "one n done". Forgiveness needs to be done more in layers like an onion. You might think you're completely done with forgiving a particular person only to discover later that there are more layers. Having assistance from a Life Coach or Counselor can REALLY help! At Odyssey Counseling we have both! It's nice to have someone lead and guide you through your process, at YOUR pace, but steady enough for you to feel like you're making progress. After all it's hard sometimes to find our way through the dark by our self. In the meantime be good to yourself and each other.

Practicing Mindfulness

Practicing Mindfulness is a very powerful thing. Whether the Mindfulness can take you out of overthinking the future or pull you out of negativity, it will serve you well. Most people overthink things, some more than others. BUT we have the choice where we put our focus. Actually we have control over what we think. Positive thoughts turn into positive actions. Look at the people around you through a different lens and find ONE positive thing about each one. That thinking can then lead to an action of kindness. The positive thinking IS action. Overt manifestation is practicing kindness. One random act of kindness, done consistently and daily can change your life.
